Active Trans Walk Challenge

Active Transportation Alliance is proud to bring you our first ever Walk Challenge from October 30th – November 15th!

With many normal activities on hold due to COVID-19, one thing we can all do is get out and get moving! Plus, October was just officially designated as Pedestrian Safety Month. There is no better time to get moving and show Chicagoland that everyone is a pedestrian and just how easy and beneficial walking can be.

This two-week challenge is free and simple to participate in for those walking or using a mobility aid or device. Simply head outside, track your trips and be entered to win cool prizes from our sponsors. We’ve also curated a special Spotify playlist so you can jam out while crushing those miles! Into social media? We’ve got a few cool special photo challenges you can easily do while out walking or rolling to earn extra points.

Beyond the cool prizes and awesome autumn selfies you’ll take out there, there are many health benefits to walking. It can help you:

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes
  • Strengthen your bones and muscles
  • Improve your mood

In a time where many of us are striving for some common ground, there is one thing we all share. Across generations, backgrounds, and communities and even where we live – no matter where we come from or where we’re going, we are all pedestrians at some point.  So what are you waiting for?! REGISTER TODAY!

Did you know that Active Trans’ mission is to make it easier to walk, bike or use public transit? Our pedestrian work doesn’t get as much attention as some of our other modes but it’s just as important.
